Feel inspired to draw from life\, taking inspiration from the surroundings at Wellesley Woodlands. Following a talk from Amanda\, you can then depict the landscape\, choose from such things as the trees and flowers surrounding you. With guided learning we will be focusing on composition\, measurement\, shape and form\, tone\, texture and on depicting distance\, foreground and mid-ground and natural perspective. Through this you will gain confidence in drawing and develop a deeper understanding when tackling a landscape from life. \n\n\n\nWhat you need: Bring a travel chair or similar to sit on and drawing materials such as a set of drawing pencils: F\, H\, HB\, 2B – 6B (if you prefer these could be graphite pencils)\, a box of thin charcoal sticks\, an art pen with a fine nib\, a rubber\, a putty rubber for charcoal\, a sharpener\, a ruler\, cardboard blending stumps and a sketch book of A4 cartridge paper. \n\n\n\nOptional if you wish to paint. \n\n\n\nBring a travel set of watercolour paints and a small watercolour paper pad\, preferably with a semi rough or rough texture rather than smooth. SUMMARY:Butterfly Count at Wellesley Woodlands
DESCRIPTION:Join us as Wellesley Woodlands for the big butterfly count as part of a nationwide citizen science initiative to record butterflies! \n\n\n\nThis event is for all ages – anyone who is interested in looking out for wildlife in the beautiful setting of Wellesley Woodlands. We will be looking out for butterflies such as the striking colours of the common blue and brimstone\, the well disguised meadow brown and the regal looking purple emperor! No previous knowledge of butterflies is required as we will provide butterfly guides. \n\n\n\nPlease note: that the butterfly count event involves around 1km of walking\, along footpaths. \n\n\n\nPlease come dressed for the weather. If heavy rain is forecast for the day\, the event will be postponed as there will be no butterflies about.
