Trails have been created that wind through the woodlands, past retained military features such as the Wellington statue and firing range walls. To the north of Duke’s Wood, the Basingstoke Canal provides walkable links to Lake and Canal Side and further reaches of Wellesley Woodlands.
There are six circular trails within Duke’s Wood of various lengths. Chestnut Trail is the longest at 1.6km in length and Holly Trail is the shortest at 1km. Both Birch (1.5km) and Holly (1.0km) trails are wheelchair friendly, with surfaced paths, graded slopes and benches. Wellesley Willow Trail runs throughout Duke’s Wood, leading onto Lake and Canal Side and in the future will connect all four sections of Wellesley Woodlands.
